Who we are
About Fire Damage Restoration Chicago
Fire Damage Restoration Chicago is a call-in referral service. It exists to make one of the hardest weeks a family can have a little easier: finding a restoration contractor who works in your part of Chicago, quickly, with clear information in hand.
What this site is, and what it is not
This site is not a restoration company. We do not clean, dry, board up or repair homes, and we do not employ technicians. When you call the number on this site, your call is connected to an independent restoration contractor who accepts work in your area, and you speak with that contractor directly on the same call.
Anything you arrange after that, including inspections, scopes of work, schedules and the work itself, is agreed between you and the contractor. Contractors are independent businesses responsible for their own work, licensing and insurance.
We do not ask you to fill out forms, we do not collect your contact details for later follow-up, and we do not make outbound calls, texts or emails. Read our privacy policy and terms for details.
Editorial standards
How the information on this site is written
The service, area and guide pages are written to help Chicago residents understand what happens after a fire and make safe decisions. Facts come from public sources such as Ready.gov, the U.S. EPA, the Illinois Department of Insurance, the City of Chicago and the IICRC restoration standards, and each page lists its sources. Our editorial policy explains how pages are researched and corrected.
We do not publish reviews, ratings, response-time promises or claims about specific contractors, because we cannot verify them for every contractor you might reach.
Our approach
Why these pages are written the way they are
- Safety firstEvery page puts fire department clearance, gas safety and electrical safety ahead of cleanup.
- Chicago-specificPages explain bungalows, greystones, two-flats, courtyard buildings and towers, because each spreads smoke and water differently.
- SourcedFacts are linked to public agencies and standards, not to marketing claims.
- Honest about the modelWe are a referral service and say so on every page.
Before you let any contractor start work
- Ask for a written scope of work and share it with your insurance adjuster
- Ask about IICRC training for fire, smoke and water restoration
- Ask whether a City of Chicago general contractor license or other licenses apply to the repairs
- Ask for proof of insurance
- Ask who will pull any permits needed for repairs
- Avoid paying in full before work is done, as Illinois insurance guidance advises
